Hello, everyone! Meg and Maggie here to share our Cupid-approved gift and décor ideas for this Valentine’s Day. What better way to say I love you than with a welcoming gathering, a handmade note, or a sweetly wrapped treat? It’s no secret that Valentine’s Day is all about warmth, so we’ve rounded up our favorite soft pink and warm neutral décor and accents. Whether you’re hosting a “Galentine’s” Day meal or looking to treat your little ones with some valentines, this week is the perfect time to show how much you appreciate all of your loved ones.
You hold the key to my heart…. While going through our collection of vintage findings in preparation for this blog, we were inspired by a box of vintage keys that we found. We’re always looking for new creative ideas for place cards so these vintage keys were the perfect answer. Using pale pink ribbon, we tied brown kraft tags with each guest’s name onto each key….
A sure way to make someone feel special is to write their name at their seat….We incorporated pink and white doilies that we purchased in the dollar section at Target. We also used a collection of vintage pale pink linen napkins that we picked up at a flea market. Below we spiced it up with warm metallic detailing by incorporating a gold trimmed vintage plate…For a sweet gift or a guest favor, we used the keys to top glassine bags filled with sweet treats. We use glassine bags in our projects often and buy them in bulk so we always have them on hand. They’re perfect for party favors, stationary, and packaging and they go with almost any décor scheme. If you’re having a gathering, a treat bag at each guest’s seat with their name shows how special they are to you and gives them something they can take home to enjoy long after they leave…As you already know, we love the beauty of things from the past and find inspiration and warmth in the nostalgia of vintage décor so we decided to highlight the beauty of the classic doily…. and used them to adorn treat bags…
as well as a place card…Using a thin black marker, we wrote the name of each guest onto the doily…Here we wrapped each guest’s silverware with a doily and tied with twine and a name tag…In the past, we’ve wrapped our stationary with vellum paper, so we were inspired to apply the same concept using doilies and vintage keys for Valentine’s Day. Using 3D elements in stationary such as this adds more of a homemade experience for the person opening the card. It’s that special extra touch! We took it a step further and also wrapped these boxes of sweet treats from Clay’s Bakery with the doilies, pink thread and vintage keys…Here we layered the doilies onto each guest’s plate and topped with a rolled linen napkin with a sprig of eucalyptus and twine…To accent the eucalyptus touch, we used disposable wooden flatware rather than traditional silverware…Here we tucked a sprig of green through the opening on a vintage manila tag… We used a paint marker to write the guest’s name. The $1 dollar section of Target is one of our favorite spots to pick up party accents. When we purchased the doilies, we also found these pretty name cards edged with a lace pattern… They looked perfect sitting atop the doilies on each plate….or in front of each plate as shown here…and here…
For those of you that have Valentines further away, we love mailing Cupid-approved care packages as a way of celebrating this holiday of love. Choosing a color or a theme for everything in the package ties it together and makes it more fun for the receiver. We chose soft shades of pink and warm neutrals for this year’s Valentine’s Day care packages…
Adorning even the most mundane of treats such as popcorn with a ribbon or bow can make it feel more special…Keeping with our theme of soft pinks, we also included these stunning cookies from Clay’s Bakery in each of the care packages we mailed…
And who could refuse these stunning pink truffle hearts?!
And now to leave you with this beautiful quote from Mother Theresa…
“Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier.”
Wishing you and yours a Valentine’s Day full of love, compassion and laughter.
XOXO
~Meg and Maggie
